Why should your job stop you from having a side hustle?

The world is changing as more people are starting to work on their passions. You may be a lawyer but love to bake, you may work in retail but love to style outside of work and you may work in finance and want to make your own money saving app. More people are beginning to find way to make extra money so that they can:
1. Pay bills
2. Save for a holiday
3. Put their children through school
4. Save for a home + much more.
UK Gov stated in their April study in 2019 that the average price of a home is £471,504 in London. Meaning if you are buying alone you would have to be on close to 6 figures to afford to buy in London.
Many people may feel that their full time job does not allow them to save for many things including a home, so starting a side hustle that allows them to save up instead of committing to another part time job, would do them a huge favor. So the fact that some companies have in their contract that their employees cannot commit to other businesses is terrible.
I can understand that employers may be worried about if their workers decide to leave work and pursue their side hustle full time, but we are in a time now where your job is no longer for life. No one can comfortably say that in the next 10 years my job is safe. Having a side hustle is an extra security blanket.
It's also very amusing the fact that a lot of job descriptions will have 'must have an entrepreneurial mind' surely as a company you would want your work place to have people that have experience of running a business. The skills that they have learnt can not only be applied to what they do outside work but also in their 9-5 role.
To my point, not everyone wants to be their own boss and their passion in life is working in the corporate world. The thought of a company telling you not to commit yourselves to anything else in this current economic climate is sad. I believe more needs to be done to make it illegal and companies should embrace this new modern change. After all, how did these corporate people get their roles. It took one person deciding to start their own business.
We are the future so by creating businesses for ourselves it will also serve the next generation of workers.
We would love to know what your thoughts are on this topic.
